What good is a vacation property that doesn’t make you feel like you’re on vacation? Not very good at all, if you ask the owner of this Palm Beach pied-à-terre. “So many of my friends have such serious apartments, but they could be in any city,” she says. “I’m in Florida. I want it to look like I’m in Florida.” So, she turned to New York interior designer Bruce Bierman for a gut renovation that would bring a touch of the Caribbean to the cramped, 1980s layout of her newly purchased condo in The Breakers. The result is a warm, bright space that is wide open to the breathtaking ocean views and perfectly functional as an escape from city living; there’s only one hitch: “It was supposed to be our weekend hideaway,” says the owner. “But now we want to be here all the time.”
