style scout: balancing act.

There is not a single thing about this dramatic bath that doesn’t work for us. Los Angeles-based Dianna Wong’s vision for the space was simple: “I really wanted to capture a masculine versus feminine feeling.” And she does just that: Everything from the punchy focal wall color from Farrow & Ball to the ornate, silverleaf mirror from Lily Jack that hangs on it is highly stylized without being too fussy. We’re also a bit hooked on the grainy texture of the Walker Zanger travertine flooring and the way it warms up the cold edge of the super contemporary sinks and bathtub. It’s that delicate balancing act—between masculine and feminine, warm and cold—that makes the room so refreshing. And the best part? If you feel like taking a soak in that tub, all you have to do is get over to the W hotel in D.C. and get yourself an “Extreme Wow” suite. Or, you can recreate the look in your own home by looking no further than our picks here.
