editor's obsession: cocktail hour.
August 08, 2011
I’m a sucker for anything that serves a dual purpose. Show me an ottoman that doubles as a coffee table, plus has storage, and I’m sold; a patterned silk scarf that can moonlight as a hair accessory, belt or purse adornment? Yes, please! So, when I laid eyes on the Chelsey Gray Limed Oak Bar from Arteriors, I wasn’t surprised to find that I was instantly charmed with its endless possibilities. The sleek, handcrafted piece is stylish thanks to its earthy linen doors, ornate hardware and an edgy nail-head trim, but behind the bi-fold doors is a hidden, functional world, with three shelves, two drawers, a mirrored back and recessed lights to shine down on all your prized wine glasses, bottles, decanters and pitchers. It’s a hard yet soft piece that takes center stage during cocktail hour, but also tucks itself away neatly, knowing how to take a graceful parting bow that allows the rest of the room its time in the spotlight.
