in the spotlight: gilt chair.
August 03, 2011
You can barely flip through a design magazine without seeing at least one Barcelona chair or Eames lounge, and (full disclosure) we like it that way. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t still plenty of space in our hearts and interiors for other blasts from the past, like this Arturo Pani hand-forged chair from the 1940s. Made of 22-karat gilt over iron, the detailed back adds a contemporary twist to the traditional frame, making it relevant for today: just ask Matthew White.
