And while that is true, about 90 percent of the time, this Rancho Santa Fe home makes a good case for reevaluating all those kindergarten life lessons. Designed by husband-and-wife team Taal Safdie and Ricardo Rabines, of San Diego-based Safdie Rabines Architects, the nearly 11,000-square-foot residence is breathtaking from the outside, with its warm cedar accents and its gentle stepping down to follow the contours of the hill on which it was built.
