Editor Obsession: In the Pink
April 01, 2013
I will be the first to admit that this is not a new obsession. I have long been captivated by the color, texture and sheer exotic appeal of vintage textiles and rugs. Something about their slightly timeworn patina and tactile patterns seem to lend character to any room. Just look at the Beverly Hills house by designer/stylist Estee Stanley in our spring National and California issues if you need proof! Despite my long-standing love for these worldly textiles, lately I find myself drawn to designs with—wait for it—a shot of hot pink. I’m not usually into pink, let alone hot pink (at least not since the ’80s), but I can’t resist it when woven into a rug or accenting a pillow. These days, I’m hovering over (ok, obsessed with) the batik pillows made from antique indigo hemp sold through Amber Interiors. Wouldn’t they make the perfect finish—or start—to a gorgeous room?
