If there was a time before design magazines and inspirational interior spreads, we don’t want to know about it. We’re so lucky to be living and decorating in a time where the options are nearly limitless, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still some drawbacks. The biggest of which is, of course, that the options are nearly limitless, and we’re prone to overactive imaginations.

One of the spots that capture our creative ruminations over and over again is the bedroom. From contemporary—like the bedroom of this Calabasas, California, home by architects Trevor Abramson and Douglas Teiger above, with its oversized photograph by Caesar Lima—to transitional, and beach-house chic to traditional and opulent, we have a hard time deciding what we would pick to set the tone for our own late-night dreaming.
