The first time I heard the story of Hansel and Gretel, I wasn’t scared. I was ecstatic. I spent a long time imagining the witch’s candy house, thinking about what kind of goodies I would choose if I could build one of my own (milk chocolate for the doors and marshmallows as mattresses). For some reason, when I saw this handsome cottage on Lake Geneva by Culligan Abraham Architecture, the childhood tale came back to me, and it’s made me realize what a long way I’ve come. Licorice roofing is no longer a residential must-have; instead, this home’s soothing neutral palette courtesy of designer Glen Lusby and rustic wood beams go a long way in satisfying my appetite, and I don’t even have to worry about someone making a meal of me after.
