There are a few weeks out of every year that are incredibly exciting for the world of design, and, more often than not, incredibly exhausting, as well! Whether it’s Maison & Objet, High Point Market, or, in the case of these past few days, New York Fashion Week, there’s a lot to see and feel and make sense of later. Don’t get us wrong, we live for these weeks, for the sneak peeks of the innovative launches and unexpected uses of color and pattern that will be revealed to consumers later in the year, but living ahead of schedule sometimes makes us stop and ask ourselves, “Wait, what month is it?” There’s nothing about this 1940s-era Miami Beach Colonial revamped by Marcelo Fernandez of Haus Design, though, that leaves any doubt in our minds of what season we’re approaching: spring. Fernandez kept the aesthetic calm but interesting, punctuating the muted scheme with doses of color, like the crimson Maya Romanoff silk on one of the dining room walls, as well as the kitchen’s Ingo Maurer Campari pendant lamps. White lacquered ceilings, vibrant reds and greens, and lively florals abound, turning this once dark, dated abode into a fresh, charming home.
